An Amazing and Awesome God

An unknown country, with unknown fears and wonders and yet, I am
at peace. Twenty-four unfamiliar faces and yet, I feel as close as
family. Thousands of hearts and yet, in Christ we are one. Costa Rica
2009, for so long I prepared myself, and now, here we are. In the
short 5 days we have been here, I have already seen God move in amazing ways:
through drama presentations, door to door outreach, community service,
VBS and so much more. Every morning I wake up in complete wonder of
what God has done and what He is going to do that day and knowing that
He has so much more up His sleeve comletely blows my mind! We really
do serve an awesome God and this generation, my generation,
better hold on to their horses because God is going to take us on one
crazy ride! I love you all and can not wait to share face to face all
that God has done!

In Him,

Alesha

Hey everyone!

The past few days in Costa Rica have been amazing! We have
all grown so much so quickly. A group of us went to Vanessas house, a
women who is parilized from the waist down. We prayed with her, gave
her a Bible and shared our favorite verses with her. It was astounding
to see how someone who had gone through so much could be so strong in
her faith. She told us: without Jesus in my heart, I would not have
made it through. It is amazing to witness the awesome things God is doing!

Prayer Walk

After church on Sunday we covered Las Juntas in prayer visiting each of the ministry sights:

San Jorge, San Francisco, and Bellavista. We also stopped at
several churches in the area, the retirement home, and parks. This was
a great opportunity for students to be able to see where we would be
ministering all week.

Lots of walking that afternoon and all the students were very
tired but it did not stop there. After dinner we headed back to
central park where teenagers like to hang out at night and we played
music, played soccer, hung out with skate borders, bikers, and had the
opportunity of presenting the groups drime once again.

Laura's story

Earlier this week I was doing door to door ministry. At the
beginning of our walk we met a man who was cleaning the street. He
told us to come to his home later that afternoon after he got off work
so we could tell him more about what we were doing. When we arrived at
his house later that afternoon we started talking to him and his two
sons that lived with him. We decided that we would pray for them.
Afterwards, we noticed that the man and one of his sons was starting to
get emotional. One of our team members decided to step up and ask if
they were wanting to make the decision to accept Christ as their Lord
and Savior. Both the son and father said that they would. It was an
amzing thing to witness.

This drama was performed on Friday night at a cultural gathering. Students were exposed to a handful of Costa Rican music, dancing, miming, as well as some fellow American music because there were highschool students doing community service in the area.

Students were excited as they met fellow American who spoke English. During the fellow American students presentation our students were in continual prayer for our presentation of three songs: 2 in Spanish, 1 in English as well as our powerful drama. After the drime was performed, some students had the opportunity to talk to some of the fellow students in more detail about the drime, they were not Christians. The night was a learning experience, cultural experience and an eye opener. Pray for those who witnessed the drime the night as well as all the people we came in contact with while in Costa Rica.

The past few days have been amazing. We have all bonded so close as a team, and each person brings something unique to the team. Today, we started VBS and have had such a great time playing soccer with the kids and talking to them about God. The host church has welcomed us in and has shown us much hospitality by taking care of us and cooking amazing meals for us. The Costa Ricans are all very friendly and we are enjoying hanging out with the teenagers at the park at night. We are very blessed to be here and can not wait to see what God is going to do this week. We can not wait to see our families again in 8 days!

Hasta Luego,

Costa Rica Team 2009

Written by: Colin

Today we were going door to door asking people if they needed us to pray for them. Our translator told us about this 14 year old girl who was pregnant. So a couple of us decided to visit her and ask if we could pray for her. We asked for any specific prayer requests. She requested that we pray for her significany other and his ability to raise enough money to receive an ultrasound. During our prayer I felt God laying on my heart to give them 20,000 colones. So I did. Then, we went to the store to purchase a bag of rice for another family. When I went to pull my money out I saw that I had the same amount that I had started with. Just then I realized God had blessed me because of my giving. It made me stop and realize that God is with me every step of the way.

The group has jumped right in with an orientation, a church service, and a music ministry in central park.

Sunday we participated in the church service with a drama, music, and prayer. This afternoon we walked the streets of Las Juntas to all the different ministry sights and covered the city in prayer.
